BEFORE LOCAL ANESTHESIA
Please follow these instructions to prepare for oral surgery with local anesthesia
In certain cases, treatment can be performed on the same day that a consultation is scheduled. Please understand that development of a comprehensive treatment plan, use of certain medications, or a complicated medical history may require our team to gather more information prior to safely taking care of you. We will make every effort to deliver care efficiently but safety is our first priority.
Please bring any referral forms and/or x-rays that your dentist provided to you
If you require antibiotic prophylaxis prior to dental procedures for cardiac or orthopedic surgery reasons, please let your primary care doctor or our team know so that these antibiotics can be prescribed before your appointment
We recommend having a light meal and to drink plenty of water to stay well-hydrated before your procedure
BEFORE IV SEDATION
Please follow these instructions to prepare for oral surgery with IV Sedation
Following anesthesia, do not drive a vehicle, operate heavy machinery for 24 hours
A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home. If you do not have a ride, we have no choice but to postpone your procedure.
- No smoking for at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.
- Marijuana use MUST be stopped 2 days (48 hours) prior to your procedure
You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for eight hours prior to the appointment.
